Parent Question
How much does competitive cheer cost?
Short answer
There is no single, honest dollar figure for competitive cheer — anyone who gives you one is describing their gym, not yours. What you can do is budget by category: tuition, choreography and music, uniform and practice wear, competition fees, travel and lodging, and optional extras like privates or camps. Ask your gym for the full season breakdown in writing before you commit.

What that means in practice
Travel is the line item that surprises most first-year families. A competition schedule that looks manageable on paper can carry flights, hotels, meals and time off work — and championship or bid events add another layer.
The other surprise is timing: several costs land before the season really starts, which is why asking for the full-year picture up front matters so much.
Cody from CHEER DAD talked candidly about the real cost of All Star cheer in Episode 20 — worth listening to before your first commitment, and again before your second season.
