Parent Question

What is STUNT and how is it structured?

Short answer

STUNT is a head-to-head team sport derived from cheer skills. On Episode 38, USA Cheer's Amy Haney explained the format: four quarters — partner stunts, pyramids and tosses, jumps and tumbling, and a team routine — with both teams performing the same standardized routines, so the point goes to whichever team executes better.

The CDU explanation

What that means in practice

Because the routines are standardized, difficulty is taken off the table and execution decides everything. That makes it unusually easy to follow from the stands compared with a traditional 2:30 routine.

The quarter structure means a team can win the stunt quarter and lose the tumbling quarter, so depth across skill areas matters.

For families, the important part is that STUNT is a genuine collegiate pathway, not a side activity.
